Juliana’s Animal Sanctuary is literally the only hope for farmed animals in Colombia and the only project to provide help by rescuing them from suffering or providing emergency medical care.

We are the first sanctuary established in South America and are currently the only one in Colombia. We have also established strong educational programs, including vegan cooking workshops, vegan comics, vegan
food relief and strong social media activism.

History
Juliana’s Animal Sanctuary was founded in 2008 in Colombia. However, the project has its roots in Juliana’s initial desire to save all the world’s animals when she learned about the suffering of animals as a 5-year old girl.

When Juliana was 5 years old she decided to stop eating meat when she found out that hamburgers were not born in trees, that burgers were cruelly murdered animals. From that day Juliana felt the need to help those innocent victims: The Animals. And so it was that at this young age she rescued dogs from the street, took them to the apartment where she lived with her parents and took care of them until she found them a home. When she was 11 years old, her school teacher asked her what she wanted to do in her adulthood. Juliana without hesitation said, “I will buy a very big place to save all the animals!” But Juliana is a person of action rather than words. At age 11, she started saving money selling things at school so she could buy a large piece of land and begin her dream, and she did! It was the first sanctuary for animals in the country of Colombia, and at that time was the only one in all of South America. Since then she has been working hard for the last 12 years with her team. In pursuing her dream, Juliana faced numerous challenges, including a public that did not even understand the meaning of a sanctuary, legal battles for her land, lack of funds and an overwhelming demand of animals in need.

The years have passed, and Juliana and her team have rescued more than 700 animals of all kinds. The sanctuary has grown and has become an organization that not only rescues animals but has strong educational programs to change the way people see animals. Juliana has managed, thanks to her husband Paul Turner, to take the sanctuary to an international level so that everyone knows the situation of the animals in South America and is aware that these animals need help, too. Juliana’s Animal Sanctuary has since become a non-profit entity registered in the United States.

Juliana still devotes her life to the sanctuary, where she lives with some volunteers, rescuing and taking care of rescued animals, giving talks on a national and international level, and bringing the reality of animals that are used as food to schools and other entities. Juliana will not rest until everyone knows the reality that the animals used for food go through, and she continues to teach respect for all beings to all the human hearts she encounters.

We have an annual budget of $150,000 to cover the expenses for providing first-
class food, shelter and medical care for the animals under our care, as well as
animals in need outside of the sanctuary, and our amazing, strong educational programs.

Donations made to Juliana’s Animal Sanctuary enable us to provide the absolute
best life for the animals under our care, as well as empower our vegan advocacy
projects for the Colombian population and most importantly, to address the root
cause of animal abuse – inequality.

Juliana’s Animal Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 in Maryland, USA EIN: 47-3548963

It is also a registered charity in Bogota, Colombia: ID: 901.005.060-30

God bless you…..you are a wonderful person. I too see abuse with pigs here in the U S and that is why I do rescue. Your mission is such a positive one in such a country who does not care about animals feelings. Keep up the wonderful work and I will follow you to see how you are doing with everything. Give Pola a big hug from me.

I wanted to make a donation, but you don’t use PayPal and I feel insecure placing a credit card on the internet. You should try using PayPal because I’m sure there are many people like me. Using PayPal is so easy for the person donating.

    • Paul Rodney Turner

Hi Judith, actually we do use Paypal and that is all we use on the site. If you click on donate, it takes you to our paypal page.

Every animal on this planet has as much right to a life as we have, I wouldn’t tread on an ant if I could help it. Ignorance and cruelty are everywhere and yet right in the middle of it are people like you, wonderful and courageous people, I do what I can in my small way but how I wish it could be so much more. Thank you for everything you do and I send my love to all your animals.

Juliana is my hero! What you are doing is simply incredible. I cry every time I watch your videos because you share so much love with the world. Those animal friends are so fortunate to have you as their caretaker! Keep up the amazing work!!

While I’m sure your project is worthy and excellent, the fact that you are a new organization requires more depth and assurances. Please send/post links to legitimate newspaper/magazine articles detailing your project and sanctuary. Anyone can create a wonderful marketing tool as yours is and generate thousands of dollars, but if I’m going to contribute, I need more impartial sources. Thank you,

    Hello
I have donated today for your project. I will support you again when I can, as I have done in the past.
I hope you succeed with your wonderful new sanctuary.
If I may make a small suggestion… I discovered your work thanks to Evolve when you needed money for your rent. I know they helped another sanctuary in England last year, even running a tee-shirt campaign for them. Could you ask them to run an ad for you? It would maybe touch more people?
I wish you and the animals all the best

The Andean Bears need your help. It would be great to see Andean bears in your sanctuary. I think a few thousand are left

    • Paul Rodney Turner

We would love to help them, but we have no room on our sanctuary and honestly, they really need their own sanctuary. Please try to help them.
